On June 5, the whole world celebrated the World Environment Day. This year’s celebration was held under the slogan “Seven billion dreams. One Planet. Consume with care”, that expressed the problem of creating opportunities for inclusive and sustainable economic development, trying to stabilize the level of resource usage and reduce impact on the environment.

Students and staff of Sumy State University willingly acceded to the international community and dedicated this day following events.

03.06.2015. Students and teachers of the Department of Applied Ecology of SSU visited the city MSW landfill, familiarized with technologies of waste disposal and looked behind the scenes of the consumer lifestyle.

04.06.2015. Students of the Department of Applied Ecology jointly with the UC “Zelenbud” planted a flower bed in the city park, as a small gift to the city residents to the WED.

05.06.2015. Students-ecologists organized an interesting quiz dedicated to the celebration of the World Environment Day on the square at the central building of SSU. In addition, students of SSU had the opportunity to admire the magnificent scenery and the elements of Sumy region nature on a small photo exhibition. And in the evening everyone acceded to the celebration of the WED in a makeshift cinema by the lake, in the open air and watched a documentary devoted to the major environmental problems.
